Hon. Frank G. Evans III

Chief Justice Frank G. Evans, Jr. served as an influential justice of the First Court of Appeals. He was a long-time public servant and the prominent father of alternative dispute resolution in Texas. Born in San Antonio, Justice Evans attended high school in Houston and served in the Marine Corp before attending the University of Houston and then the University of Texas School of Law. He served as a military prosecutor and defense counsel in North Korea, after which he entered private practice. Evans served on the First Court of Civil Appeals in Houston as a Justice and then Chief Justice. After retiring from the court, he took on many new roles. He served as the Judicial Officer in Texas of Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services (J.A.M.S.), was a Visiting Professor and Founding Director of the Center for Legal Responsibility at South Texas College of Law in Houston, worked of counsel for the law firm Haynes & Boone in Houston, and returned to the First Court of Appeals as Conference Judge. |
