Donald M. Hunt
|
Don Hunt was born in Yowell, Texas. After serving in the United States Army, he returned to Texas and attended the University of Texas Law School. He was licensed to practice law in Texas in 1961, began practicing appellate law in the early 1960s, and became board certified in appellate law in 1987. He helped organize the Appellate Section of the State Bar that same year and later served as its Chair. He initially worked with the firm of Key, Carr, Carr and Clark and later retired from Mullen Hoard & Bowen, LLP. His success as an appellate attorney led him to become an adjunct professor (teaching appellate advocacy) and a faculty advisor to the trial and appellate teams at Texas Tech University School of Law, beginning in 1974. Affectionately known as Coach, Mr. Hunt served the school for 34 years, helped his teams win national and international competitions, and was honored when the law school courtroom was named for him. He dedicated many hours to pro bono service in Lubbock and was an integral part of the Lubbock County Bar Association. In 2011, he was awarded the Outstanding Fifty Year Lawyer Award by the Texas Bar Foundation. |
