Sharon Freytag

Sharon Freytag was a legendary appellate lawyer. After graduating with honors from SMU Dedman School of Law and serving as the Editor in Chief of the SMU Law Review, she clerked for U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit Judge Patrick E. Higginbotham. In 1983, she began her long and distinguished career with the law firm of Haynes & Boone LLP, where she co-founded its appellate practice group. Later, she not only played a role in founding the American Bar Association’s Council of Appellate Lawyers—the only national bench bar organization—she served as its president as well. She went on to serve on both the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the State Bar of Texas.
