- Advanced Civil Appellate Course and Civil Appellate Practice 101 Course
Each year in September, the State Bar Appellate Section and TexasBarCLE present the Advanced Civil Appellate Course on a Thursday and Friday, preceded by the Civil Appellate Practice 101 Course on a Wednesday. Both courses are held in Austin, Texas. The Section offers a limited number of need-based scholarships to cover the registration fees.

- Handling Your First Appeal
Welcome to the world of appellate practice. This course is designed to familiarize new attorneys and trial litigators with the basics of handling an appeal. The course covers both substantive law and key procedural rules.
- Handling Your First (or Next) Fifth Circuit Civil Appeal
This course is designed to cover the nuts and bolts of appellate practice in the Fifth Circuit. It is designed for new appellate attorneys and state-court practitioners alike. The course covers substantive Fifth Circuit case law updates, Fifth Circuit internal operating procedures, distinctions between state and federal rules of appellate procedure, and Fifth Circuit mandamus procedure. The course has also included a panel discussion with Fifth Circuit judges.
- Texas State Bar Annual Meeting: Supreme Court Update and U.S. Supreme Court Update.
Every year, the State Bar Appellate Section presents a Supreme Court term review and a Texas Supreme Court term review at the annual meeting.
