Appellate Section Co-Sponsors an Evening with the Texas Supreme Court
The Appellate Sections of the State Bar of Texas and the Austin Bar Association will jointly present An Evening with the Texas Supreme Court on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 4:30 p.m. at the InterContinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel at 701 Congress Avenue in Austin. Please join us for a panel discussion with ideas for improving appellate practice from both sides of the bench. Panelists will include Chief Justice Nathan L. Hecht, Justice Paul W. Green, Justice Phil Johnson, Justice Don R. Willett, Justice Eva Guzman, Justice Debra Lehrmann, Justice Jeffrey S. Boyd, and Justice John Phillip Devine. A reception with the Texas Supreme Court will follow the program from 5:30 to 6:30. Appellate Section Provides Comments to Supreme Court on E-Filing Rules
In response to the Supreme Court’s adoption of rules relating to electronic filing, the Appellate Section surveyed its members to solicit comments for the Court’s consideration. Appellate Section Adopts Guidelines for Seeking Amicus Support
The Appellate Section has adopted guidelines for filing amicus briefs in appellate matters of importance to the State of Texas and to the civil appellate bar. Chief Justice John Hemphill Inducted Into the Texas Appellate Hall of Fame
The State Bar of Texas Appellate Section and the Texas Supreme Court Historical Society proudly announce that John Hemphill, Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court from 1840 to 1858, has been inducted into the Texas Appellate Hall of Fame.
